Sorry. I've been busy.

Maybe if I have a few dozen hours to kill tomorrow, I will sit down and type up all of the things I'm learning about America and Americans and foreigners from Head Teacher as she sits and talks at my grandmother hour after hour here in the office. Especially if I decide I just almost want to kill myself, but don't quite have the desire that would really tip me over the edge.

Right now, the subject is "American Ladies":

American ladies are really dedicated and multi-tasking and mow the lawn and shopping for the food and usually there two or three children but sometimes five or six children and then the housewife does the laundry and the how do you say iron the clothes and vacuum and clean the windows and do the dishes and then the American ladies also do the cooking and the take care the children and in America the ladies are really family-oriented and sometimes they take care of the garden and plant roses and then also.....

I mean. I thought Korean ladies did most of those same things. But the really great part is that my grandmother is an American lady, so she probably already knows all of this.

She's trying to be nice. She's trying to be nice. She's trying to be nice....

she's like the screwball characters in sitcoms: they're awesome to watch/hear about, but wouldn't be awesome to deal with every day. George from Seinfeld is hella funny... but not if he's your next-door neighbor.

Please chronicle this madcap cultural exchange. You owe it to us.

I have a free period tomorrow thanks to a performance test. I think HT might be busy then, but if she's not, maybe I'll just spend the entire period letting the two of them chat at the table and surreptitiously transcribing it on my computer behind the cubicle wall.
