MJ Oppah, re the next two weeks of vacation that everyone gets, except for me, although there are no classes for me to teach:

"Even if someone notices that you don't come to school on vacation day, they will not have any idea what to do about that. Stay home." ♥

Sounds like a good time to catch up on all those blogposts you've been meaning to write :) Or crank up your favorite band without a car of being too loud....

Unfortunately for the readers, I did finally find away to get around the blogspot block on my school's... whatever that fancy internet terminology is that means I can't access a website. Which will mean loads of pointless posts about how bored I am.

But in all seriousness, it does sound like a good time to buckle down on the reading. My grasp of Korean history is shameful.

Hah. "They will not have any idea what to do about that."

Best advice I can think of.

The funny thing is, I wasn't even complaining. He just asked what I was doing for vacation, and I told him I don't get one. He continued to bring it up over the course of the next two hours, suggesting first that I should argue about it and finally that I should just not show up, because it's not "right".

He's a good'un.

I sure know what i'm doing about you not going, and thats complaining to mrs. lee! Historically, that is why the Seobu district teachers have the uniform policy of "you have to come in even if you aren't doing anything." A couple of years back it was at the discretion of the individual school, but then native teachers got to complaining that So-and-so's school lets them stay at home, why can't my school! So, everyone now is supposed to go. Except you, i guess. I hate you.

Actually I'm the only weoneomin I know who does have to go in. Try reading that one more time.

Although i was drunk at the time of posting, i maintain that my interpretation was correct. But, it was assuming that you follow the advice and don't actually go in.
And my "supposed" is misplaced then.

Alright.. you win.

Well I'm flattered that my blog would be considered good read-while-drunk fodder, anyhow. Complaining because other people's jobs have more perks (as in, things given in addition to what was agreed upon by you in your contract) just shows a lack of professionalism. And I don't mean, oh man this sucks complaining. Because it does suck. I mean whining to district offices or torturing your school over it.

Of course I'm going to work tomorrow. I'm going to do my best to sit directing in front of the VP's desk and look pitiful. But I am going to work tomorrow. I'm a big girl. I can handle it.
